Cuttack, Mar 21:
Evaluation of answer sheets of the matriculation examinations conducted by the Board of Secondary Education began today at 61 evaluation centres across the state under tight security, said Dakshya Prasad Nanda, president of Board of Secondary Education, Odisha.
Nanda said a record 16,000 examiners have been engaged in the exercise.
He said as the question papers this time carried an objective and a subjective part. While the objective part on OMR sheets will be examined by computers, the subjective part is being examined by evaluators at these centres.
Each examiner in a centre will be only evaluating answers to a single question out of the five subjective questions which are in five sets. In the process each examiner will be able to examine at the most 30 to 35 answer sheets of a single question  in a day.
Nanda said apart from assistant examiners there will be a chief examiner and scrutinisers in each evaluation centre. Teams both from the BSE as well as the department including the commissioner-cum-secretary will be paying surprise visits to these centres to prevent any kind of malpractice by examiners during evaluation.
