“I should have received the nomination. However, the leader might have considered other factors. Given N Bhaskar Rao was the Deputy Chairman of the State Planning Board, it would have been better if someone else received the Rajya Sabha position,” said Pangi speaking to reporters today.

“He lives in Visakhapatnam mostly for business. If business becomes the most important thing, politics is not going to work. You have to leave one thing or the other,” he added.

While Rao refused to react to the developments, BJD Spokesperson Sashi Bhusan Behera warned Pangi of the all-seeeing-eye of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

“Expressing discontent in the public is unacceptable. The party president is discussing, analysing and keeping a close watch over everything,” warned Behera.

Notably, BJD, on May 27 announced senior leader Prasanna Acharya, Bishnu Das and N Bhaskar Rao as its candidates for the three Rajya Sabha seats from the state. They will replace Pyarimohan Mohapatra, Bhupinder Singh, and Baisnab Charan Parida, who will retire on July 1 this year.
