Exchange of fire with Maoists in Odisha forest, explosives seized

Police today seized explosives and other Maoist articles after a combing operation in Dangirijori hill forest under Gochhapada police station limits in Odisha’s Kandhamal district.

Acting on reliable information, police personnel began combing operation in the forest following which an exchange of fire ensued with the ultras late last night.

Police raided the forest following information of presence of around 30 rebels camping in the hills.

While the exchange of fire continued for over two hours, police seized huge cache of explosives and Maoist articles from the forest. However, the members of the outlawed group managed to disappear under the cover of darkness.

The cops seized eight IED packets, six detonators, batteries and other things from inside the forest this morning. Combing operation resumed this morning to nab the ultras.
