Exhibition Ground to be new venue for Adivasi Mela 2018 in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar: Annual Tribal Fair, popularly known as Adivasi Mela, is all set to kick off on January 26 but at different location in the city here.

The Tribal Exhibition, which is organised every year at Adivasi Exhibition Ground, will be held held at IDCO Exhibition Ground at Unit 3 area this year.

The state government on Wednesday officially announced shifting of the venue for holding annual Tribal Fair at Exhibition Ground.

The event will begin on January 26 (Republic Day) from 2 pm till 9 pm and conclude on Feb 9.

The authorities shifted the location to Exhibition Ground citing traffic congestion and parking issue.

The decision was made to shift the venue of the event due to the crowd at Adivasi Ground situated at Unit 1 area that causes traffic jam, a press release said.

People can have sufficient space for parking and visiting the Tribal Fair at Exhibition Ground, it added.

Several initiatives have been taken for ensuring the visitors to enjoy the colourful fair of tribal people at IDCO Exhibition Ground. The event will showcase tribal market, tribal food court, tribal agricultural produces and forest produces.

Like a structure built at Adivasi Ground, an Adivasi Village will be constructed inside the Exhibition Ground, the release said.

However, building a tribal village just in eight days seems to be an impossible task for the authorities.

Earlier, the authorities were planning to hold the week-long event at Janata Maidan near Swosti Premium Hotel in the city.

Later, they decided to organise Adivasi Mela at Exhibition Ground.
