Explosion at coal mine kills one in Odisha’s Sundargarh

Sundargarh: An explosion at MCL’s Kulada coal mine under Hemagiri police limits in Odisha’s Sundargarh killed a person today.

According to reports, the mishap took place this afternoon when blasting was being carried out at the mine. A huge piece of rock blew in the air under the impact of the explosion and fell on a contractual employee who was sitting on the rear part of a tipper truck. He died on the spot.

Moreover, the truck and two other tippers were damaged during the blasting. Tension gripped the spot following the incident as workers of the coal mine demanded compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the family of the deceased.
