Panel for revamp of Plus Two exams in Odisha

The fact finding committee, formed by the Odisha Higher Education department, today submitted its final report recommending reforms in the evaluation of Plus Two papers, examination pattern, syllabus and management of examinations.

The committee has also recommended action against the officials in charge of the management of the annual Plus Two examinations last year.

The three-member committee submitted its final report to Higher Education minister Pradip Panigrahi, secretary, Gagan Kumar Dhal and senior officials of the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) at the State Secretariat here.

However, the department has not made it clear about the details of the report of the committee.

It may be mentioned that the Higher Education department had formed the committee to suggest reforms in the Plus Two evaluation and management of examinations following statewide uproar over faulty evaluation of papers in the last year’s annual Plus Two examinations.

The committee, in its interim report on November 19 last year, had recommended the CHSE to conduct 50 mark OMR objective test on each subject in the first year and 50 marks OMR objective test and 50 marks subjective test in the second year.

Besides, it had also recommended that like the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), the CHSE should make similar provision to provide question-answer booklet to the students in the annual Plus Two examinations with each booklet having 3-4 sets.

Among others, the committee had also suggested practical examinations at the college level and installation of CCTV in each examination management hub where the question papers would be kept.

“The department has received final report of the committee which will be implemented from the next year after a thorough review,” said the Higher Education minister.
