Fall from ‘Baisi Pahacha’ claims life of a sexagenarian in Odisha

A senior citizen today had a fatal fall at ‘Baisi Pahacha’ inside Jagannath Temple in Odisha’s Puri leading to his death.

According to reports, the 65-year-old devotee identified as Udaynath Padhi slipped from Baisi Pahacha (the 22 stairs leading to the temple) while he was on his way out from the temple after paying obeisance to the Lords at the 12th century shrine.

The elderly man from Pichukuli village in Khurda district was in the Pilgrim town with his family to seek Lords’ blessings.

According to reports, the man felt uneasy accompanied by head reeling resulting in the fall. Following this, he was immediately rushed to the district headquarters hospital where the attending doctors declared him dead on arrival.
