Families displaced due to Hirakud Dam project to get homestead land: Odisha CM

Jharsuguda: Around 2,000 families of Jharsuguda displaced due to the Hirakud Dam project will be provided with homestead land, announced Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today on the occasion of distribution of smart health cards under the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) in the district.

More than 1.15 lakh people of the district will be benefited with the smart health cards.

The CM also launched projects worth Rs 297 crore in district, including the inauguration of projects worth Rs 144 crore and laying of foundation stone of projects worth Rs 153 crore. Two water treatment plants for Jharsuguda and Brajrajnagar were also inaugurated.

Implementation of drinking water project worth Rs 618 crore will provide safe drinking water to all the villages and towns in Jharsuguda district. Piped water would be provided to 1.22 lakh families in the district by June 2022, said Patnaik.

Construction of a 100-bedded heartcare hospital in Jharsuguda at an expenditure of Rs 102 crore is nearing completion and it will provide better treatment to the people, the Chief Minister said.
