Farmer dies while managing shutter plate of river protection wall in Odisha

Rayagada: A man was reportedly killed while managing the shutter plate of protection wall of river Kalyani in Kalyansinghpur block of Odisha’s Rayagada district. The deceased was identified as Kashari Majhi (55), a farmer.  He was a native of Singarikhadika village under Kashipur tehsil. Sources said Majhi was trying to remove the shutter plate meant to provide protection to the bridge and the road, when the mishap took place. Police and fire services personnel reached the spot after receiving information. Family members too arrived after locals informed them. The body has been recovered for postmortem and further investigation is underway.
