Farmer ends life over loan burden in Odisha’s Khordha

Farmer suicide continues unabated in Odisha as yet another farmer of Asarala village under Bolagarh block in Khordha district ended his life today allegedly due to loan burden.

The deceased was identified as Laxmikant Sethy (45). He is survived by his wife and two sons.

According to reports, Laxmikant had taken loans from Asarala cooperative society and five local self-help groups.

Being stressed over repayment of the loans, he consumed poison this morning.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared brought dead.
