Father, son accused of raping tribal maid in Odisha

The Commissionerate Police in Odisha today registered a case against a man and his son, for allegedly raping a 18-year-old tribal house maid.

The police arrested the father, Sudhir Ranjan Bihari (48), a contractual class IV employee of the State Secretariat here, while the son Chinmaya Bihari (20) is absconding.

According to sources in the Air Field police station, the tribal house maid, had been working in their house in the Bhimtangi area for the last seven months.

The victim alleged she was repeatedly raped by the father-son duo.

It was only after the maid got pregnant that she managed to reach a short stay home and narrated her story to the counselor of the home, who asked her to lodge a complaint with the police.

Acting on the complaint, the police arrested Sudhir from his home and are on the lookout for the other rapist Chinmaya , who is still at large.

Police have slapped charges against the father and son under sections 376, 506 and 34 of IPC and under section 4/5 Immoral Trafficking Act.

The victim has also alleged that she was forcibly inducted into flesh trade by the father and son during her tenure of service at their residence.
