Female foeticide suspected in Odisha’s Nayagarh

Even as various government programmes and campaign launched to curb female foeticide in Odisha, another case was reported in Nayagarh district that is ranked top in this field.

The child line and medical team rushed to the spot after a fetus of a girl child was found on roadside in Nayagarh.

Police sent the fetus for autopsy.

According to reports, some locals found the fetus lying on roadside at Belabani on Lenkudipada-Machhipada road under Sadar block yesterday morning. Almost all the parts of the body were developed in the fetus except eyes and some other organs.

The incident was reported just a month after a newborn girl child was rescued behind Ranpur Community Hospital. The child was admitted to Nayagarh district headquarters hospital where she died after battling for life last month.
