Fertiliser scam: License of 7 dealers cancelled in Odisha’s Rayagada

Rayagada: The Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment Department swung into action and cancelled license of seven dealers after media reported on alleged fertilizer corruption in Rayagada district. Also, the department issued show cause notice to 18 dealers asking them to present their side within 15 days.

Rayagada District Chief Agriculture Officer Nanda Kishore Singh said further action will be taken in connection with the fertilizer corruption after getting reports.

This apart, the Cooperation department served notices to four LAMPs and the Rayagada Multipurpose Co-operative Society to submit report over the matter.

The media reported that the Agriculture Department showed undue favours to dealers in Rayagada, Gunupur and Muniguda agriculture districts. In addition to this, LAMPs in the agriculture districts sold fertilizer to dealers in the name of bogus farmers.

Rayagada Collector Pramod Kumar Behera sought a report from the Agriculture department and Cooperation department, following which action has been taken against the dealers and officials.
