FICCI plays a leading role in bridging gap between Industry and Government: Hemant Sharma

Bhubaneswar: The first meeting of FICCI Odisha State Council for the 2022-23 was held yesterday, with focus on mining, energy, tourism, education, skill development and MSMEs sector in the state. An interactive session was also organized for the State Council Members with the senior government officials of the Industries department, Government of Odisha.

Hemant Sharma, IAS, Principal Secretary, Department of Industries, Government of Odisha graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour and urged to bring in the enterprising spirit among youth as Odisha offers abundant opportunities in every sector. He said,  FICCI and other industry associations need to play a very crucial role in engaging members about various available opportunities. The industry bodies also play a leading role in bridging the gap between the industry and Government, he mentioned. Odisha government would organize ‘Make in Odisha’ with the active involvement of FICCI as the national industry partner.

Bhupendara Singh Poonia IAS, Managing Director, IPICOL and Additional Secretary, Industries Department graced the occasion as the special guest. He highlighted about the business opportunities for both the large and MSMEs enterprises in the state. IPICOL is working for the industrial growth of the state and assured that IPICOL would extend necessary support to Industries expanding their business in the state.

Ranjan Nayak, Chairman, FICCI Odisha State Council & COO-JSW Steel, Odisha operation delivered the welcome address, applauded the Odisha Budget announced recently. He said, Government of Odisha made a significant allocation to the mining sector. He highlighted that the business models should be sustainable with adoption of more green initiatives. He also mentioned about the resource nationalism, digitalization and geo-political factors that influence the business in recent times.

Ms. Monica Nayyar Patnaik, Immediate Past Chairperson, FICCI Odisha State Council & Managing Director, Sambad Group, highlighted about the activities done by FICCI Odisha State Council across the sectors during the difficult times. She urged the industries to work in synergy to take Odisha to new heights.

During the open house discussion, industry members discussed various issues and challenges during pandemic and put forth their views to strengthen the efforts of the government.

Senior industry members J K Mohanty, Co-Chair, FICCI National Tourism Council and CMD, Swosti Group, Prabodh Mohanty, Managing Director, SNM Group, Rajen Padhi, Chairman, Taskforces on Exports, FICCI Odisha State Council and Commercial Director, B1 Business House Pvt.Ltd, Sanjib Kumar Rout, Founder President, C V Raman Global University, Dr. G D Mishra, Director, Srusti Academy of Management and Shashi Bhushan Upadhayay, Chief Resident Executive, Jindal Stainless Steel participated in the interactive session. The session was represented by 30 Industry members. Sanjeev Kumar Mohanty, Head, FICCI Odisha State Council moderated the session and delivered vote of thanks .
