FIR against Odisha CM for encroaching Lord Lingaraj’s land

Puri Swargadwar Suraksha Samiti has filed a written complaint with the Airfield police station in the capital accusing the Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik of grabbing land belonging to Lord Lingaraj.

The Swargdwar Samiti has alleged that Biju Patnaik, father of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, had encroached 500 decimals of land belonging to Lord Lingaraj temple under Bhimapur Mauja plot number 216/170, 172,174 in Bhubaneswar.

On December 9, 1991, this illegal work had been done by manipulation and a simple petition. The land is currently registered in the name of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s sister Geeta Mehta, the complainant said.

The Chief Minister has also encroached on the Swargadwar crematorium by illegally constructing a memorial of his father Biju Patnaik. No action has been initiated even after court orders, the complaint added.

In addition to this, temple land has been encroached for building Biju Patnaik statue on the Grand Road in Puri.

The convenor of the Samiti, lawyer Priyadarshan Patnaik, has said that the chief minister should be arrested based on the written complaint.
