Fire breaks out in Ananta Basudev temple; 22 rooms of Roshaghara gutted

Bhubaneswar: At least 22 rooms of the Roshaghara (kitchen) of Ananta Basudev temple here were gutted after a major fire broke out in the temple during wee hours today.

However, no casualty has been reported in the incident whereas the cause behind the mishap is yet to be ascertained.

Sources said, some locals first spotted smoke emitting from the temple at around 4 AM and immediately informed fire brigade officials. By the time the fire fighting team reached the spot, 22 thatched rooms of the kitchen were reduced to ashes. The fire fighting team took  two hours to completely douse the flames.

It may be mentioned here that ‘Abhada’ is prepared for around 5,000 people in the temple everyday. Due to the mishap, there will be delay in distribution of Abhada among the devotees today.
