Odisha Health Department Secretary Arti Ahuja today visited the SUM Hospital here this morning to take stock of the situation after the tragic fire mishap at the medical last evening.
Confirming death of 19 persons in the incident, Ahuja said, "Fourteen persons were declared brought dead at the Capital Hospital and five succumbed to injuries at the AMRI Hospital. Post-mortem of all the bodies has been completed. Vehicles have been provided to family members of the deceased to take the bodies back to their homes."
The ICU, dialysis and emergency units of the Sum Hospital have been sealed for proper investigation, she added.
Later in the day, a person died in ventilator at the AIIMS Hospital here taking the death toll to 20. As many as 106 persons undergoing treatment at the SUM Hospital have been shifted to various hospitals in Bhubaneswar for treatment, sources said.
The deceased whose identities have been established are Manaswani Sarangi (Jankia), Lochana Barala (Begunia), Prasanna Tripathy (Bolagada), Latika Das (Bhimatangi), Ashok Sahu (Samantarapur), Md Zakir Hussein (Keranga), Nagendra Nath Sur (Jaleswar), Nimai Naik (Bhubaneswar), Padmini Dehuri (Keonjhar), Tribeni Naik (Gosani Nuagaon), Lingaraj Raul (Chhatrapur), Bhagyadhara Behera (Kamakhyanagar), Sukanti Sahu (Belapada, Jatani), Sulochana Parida (Patakura), P Kalyani Patra (Kabisuryanagar), Jogendra Das (Begunia), Md Hassan (Badagada, Bhubaneswar), Rajani Patra (Banapur), Shailbala Sasmal (Dahipada, Jagatsinghpur) and Harihar Mallha.
Notably, fire brokeĀ out in the Intensive Care Unit of the Dialysis ward in the first floor of the SUM Hospital due to electric short circuit last evening.
