Fire mishap: Odisha hotelier to extend financial aid to domestic help’s kin

Bhubaneswar: Pal Heights hotel’s owner Satpal Singh will bear the educational expenses of the siblings of Khusi, the minor domestic help who died in a fire mishap at his residence in Odisha capital earlier this month, said Child Welfare Committee (CWC) member Benudhar Senapati today.

Singh today appeared before the local CWC for questioning in connection with the death of the minor girl.

“Satpal Singh will bear the expenses of education of the deceased’s three siblings. He will pay Rs 2,000 per month for her elder sister towards studying in school and Rs 4,000 per month for studying in college,” said Senapati.

Besides, Singh will provide job to her mother in his company, he added.

The CWC had earlier issued Singh a notice asking him to depose before it by August 17. However, he had sought time till August 22 (today) for appearance.

It may be recalled here that fire broke out at Singh’s residence at Budheswari Colony here on August 3 morning claiming lives of five persons.

Tanu Das (12) alias Khusi, who was working as domestic help, was one of the deceased. Post mortem report had revealed that she died of asphyxiation.
