First-of-its-kind: All-women PCR vans launched in Odisha town

Sambalpur: In a bid to ensure women’s safety in the town, the Sambalpur police today introduced all-women PCR van partolling.

The initiative, which is a first-of-its-kind in the state, was launched by Northern Range DIG Himanshu Kumar Lal here. As many as two all-women PCR vans have been introduced. The vehicles would cover vulnerable areas during peak hours.

To cover interior areas, a total of 10 motorcycles have been introduced for MC patrolling. They would cover vulnerable areas other than areas being covered by PCR vans.

Among other initiatives for safety of women, a special WhatsApp group having female representatives of all wards of Sambalpur town as its members has been created. Tara Pradhan, 5T inspector, is the admin of the group. She will coordinate with all concerned for prompt response in case of any exigency/complaint or grievance by any person, especially women and senior citizens.

This apart, 5T helpline no. 8458002950 is also working 24×7 to meet any exigency in quickest possible way.
