Five-day ‘Panchamaveda’ theatre festival form Mar 9

Bhubaneswar, Mar 5:

‘Panchamaveda’, a Bhubaneswar based cultural organisation, is organising the 10th State Level Natak Mahotsav and Panchamaveda Award-2014  at Bhanjakala Mandap here on March 9 this month. The theatre festival will continue till March 13.

The event is being organised in association with the Union Ministry of Culture, the State Tourism Department, Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre (EZCC) and the Department of Culture .

Speaking to media persons here on Wednesday, organisation Secretary Haren Sahoo informed that five plays will be staged during the five days of the festival by different troupes participating from across the state. These are Manisha Hata (by Panchamaveda, Bhubaneswar), Surjyastara Sati (Sankalpa, Rourkela), A aa e… (Charlie Chaplin Cultural Club, Dhenkanal), Maunsha (Uttarayani Club, Jatni) and Chetabani (Magic Theatre, Bhubaneswar).

Five eminent personalities in the field of art and culture will be felicitated with Panchamaveda Award-2014 on its valedictory ceremony. They are Pt. Prafulla Kar, Dr Saileswar Nanda, Dr Subodh Patnaik, Raju Padhy and Smt Mamata Mohanty. The award comprises of a citation, shawl and cash of Rs 10,000, Sahoo said.
