Five from Jajpur, one from Sundargarh test positive for COVID-19

Bhubaneswar: As many as five persons from Jajpur district and one from Sundargarh district tested positive for COVID-19 today, official sources said.

The patient of Sundargarh, who is a resident of Bisra area, had come in contact with a person of the district who earlier tested positive for the virus too, sources added.

On the other hand, patients of Jajpur district have travel history to West Bengal, Health and Family Welfare Department sources said. The department has requested everyone having travel history to the neighbouring state during last 28 days to inform the local sarpanch, BDO/tehsildar and quarantine themselves at home.

Here’s COVID-19 tally of the two districts so far:

* Sundargarh- Total cases: 3, Active cases: 2, Recovered: 1.

* Jajpur- Total cases: 7, Active cases: 6, Recovered: 1.

Yesterday, five persons from Bhadrak and two from Balasore had tested positive for the virus. The five from Bhadrak also have travel history to West Bengal, the department said.

Number of COVID-19 cases in Odisha rose to 74 today. With this, the number of active cases in the state stood at 49 while 24 persons have been cured and discharged from hospitals till date.
