Five more COVID-19 cases detected in Odisha’s Ganjam, State tally rises to 294

Bhubaneswar: The tally of COVID-19 patients mounted to 294 in Odisha after five more cases were reported today afternoon. Official sources said the fresh five cases were detected in Ganjam district. With this the number of active cases in Ganjam district rises to 89.

The sources added the five fresh cases are Surat returnees and symptomatic. They are 39 years old male, 49 years old male, 16 years old male, 48 years old male and 45 years old male.

The five persons have been tested positive for the deadly virus while being in quarantine.
Official sources added contact tracing and follow-up action are being done.

Meanwhile, a seven-member team led by Director Health Services, with representatives from WHO, ICMR and RMRC has been sent to Ganjam district to strengthen containment, surveillance and medical response measures. MKCG Medical College and Hospital is also supplementing the local administration.

So far, the number of active cases in the State stands at 224 and two died of the disease. A total of 68 persons cured from the infection in the State.
