Flood hits normal life in Odisha’s Malkangiri, communication disrupted

Malkangiri: Incessant rainfall in southern part of Odisha including Malkangiri has flooded several areas in the district paralysing normal life and affecting vehicular movement.

While flood water was seen flowing 4-feet above the Mangma river bridge here, plying of vehicles in Jeypore-Malkangiri route has been disrupted due to waterlogging on road.

Hundreds of vehicles remained stranded on both sides of the road due to the situation. Transportation of edibles has also been hit in the district due to the waterlogging.

Mathili area in the district has been severely affected due to the heavy downpour as a rainfall of 99 mm was recorded in the region last night.

Rainwater gushed into many houses creating severe inconvenience for the residents. People were seen shifting their essential commodities to beds in a bid to keep those dry.
