Flood waters submerge NH in Keonjhar, Jharsuguda in Odisha

Road communication between Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts in Odisha was snapped after a portion of National Highway-49 was submerged by the floodwater of Baitarani at Turumunga in Keonjhar district this afternoon.

The road communication between Sambalpur and Jharsuguda was also cut off as the floodwater of Bheden river submerged a stretch of the National Highway at Kherwal in Jharsuguda district.

In another incident, one person was swept away while taking bath in Baitarani river at Dhanabeni village under Patana block in the district today.

According to reports, five persons of the village, who had gone for a bath in the river, were swept by the strong current. While some villagers, present on the spot, managed to rescue four of them, there was no trace of the fifth person when reports last came in.
