The car was launched at Capital Ford in a glittering ceremony presided over by Managing Director (MD) Satish Garg in the presence of Director Sidharth Garg and Ford India’s Divisional Operation Manager Kisley Chouwdhary.

Booking of the car had started on July 27.

The car would be available in three engine options; 1.2 TiVCT 88 PS petrol, 1.5 TiVCT 112 PS petrol and 1.5 TDCi 100 PS diesel. The ARAI certified fuel efficiency of the car has been rated at 18.2 KMPL for the petrol version and 25.8 KMPL for the diesel version.

It would be available in seven different colors. The top-end petrol Titanium trim also offers automatic transmission.

“The company has made safety a top priority in this car. In order to achieve this, the car has been made of high strength steel and is available with dual front airbags as standard across all variants. Airbags as standard fitment across trims comes as a first for this segment,” said Vice President of Capital Ford Ranjan Kumar Mohapatra.

The top-end models in both petrol and diesel versions feature six airbags. The 1.5 TiVCT petrol will come loaded with additional safety features like Electronic Stability Control (ESP), Hill Launch Assist (HLA) and Traction Control System (TCS).

It may be noted that Ford had unveiled this new compact sedan on the sidelines of its Sanand plant inauguration in late-March. It had also roped in actor Farhan Akhtar as the brand ambassador for the promotion of the compact sedan.

It is part of Ford India’s offensive to establish a stronger foothold in India. Based on the Figo hatchback, Figo Aspire is expected to replace Ford Classic and will rival entry level sedans from other makers such as the Maruti Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze, Tata Zest and Hyundai Xcent.
