Foreign participants arrive for India Surf Festival in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Feb 5:

International participants have started arriving in Odisha to take part in the fourth edition of ‘India Surf Festival’, which will get underway at the Ramchandi Beach on the Puri-Konark Marine Drive in the state from Friday.

The three-day long mega event will have 40 participants from India along with international participants from countries such as USA, UK, Switzerland, Spain, Germany, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Dubai and Portugal.

A girl power workshop along with cultural exchange programs will also be held along with surfing during the festival.

“It’s an adventure and it is very interesting..how we can create a surf culture here and the surfing industry can be an opportunity for India,” said visiting participant Caroline.

“We have a vision to fuse art, adventure and music together. This will also generate business. So far, we have registered 72 surfers and 40 members for art and music. Sports activities will continue till 5 pm in the afternoon and arts and music programs will continue till midnight,” said Sanjay Samantaray, Founder of India Surf Festival.

“This event is being held for the past four years and attracting many adventure sports enthusiasts along with tourists. It will also help project the state in the international arena,” said Pushpendra Singh Deo.

The festival will showcase to a worldwide audience its massive potential for board sport activities such as surfing, kite- surfing, stand up paddling (SUP) and long boarding (skate) in the state.
