Former Miss India semi finalist from Odisha gets COVID jab at home, trolled

Bhubaneswar:  Shrutiksha Nayak, the semi finalist of  Fbb Colors Femina Miss India 2018, drew flak after she posted a picture of her getting vaccinated against COVID-19 at her house here, on social media despite being ineligible for the doorstep vaccination.

Yesterday, she took to her Instagram profile and posted a picture of her taking the jab at her house. She was not even wearing a mask during the inoculation.

” I did not have to go out or wait for the slots. I was not getting  anyways,” Shrutiksha wrote thanking one Ashish Batla and Sushree Priyadarshini for helping her for the doorstep vaccination. However, she deleted the post  soon after netizens trolled her on Instagram and Twitter questioning her eligibility for the doorstep vaccination.

Uploading the picture on Twitter, one user wrote, “Some people have managed to get the vaccine delivered at home! No need to schedule your jab on the CoWIN portal, no need to travel and no need to stand in the queue under the hot sun. She is even without a mask!.”

“This is illegal. Please consider,” said another user tagging the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Commissionerate Police.

It is pertinent to mention here that doorstep vaccination of people aged above 70 years and Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) had started only in Berhampur, Cuttack and Rourkela. However, the State Health and Family Welfare Department yesterday cancelled the initiative citing that it violates the protocol issued by the Centre.
