Former Odisha Chief Secy Sudhanshu Mishra passes away

Former Odisha Chief Secretary Sudhanshu Bhusan Mishra passed away at his residence here last night. He was 77.

Mishra is survived by his wife and two daughters. According to sources, he was suffering from cancer and his health condition was poor for the last few days.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has expressed grief over the demise of Mishra. Describing him as a visionary administrator, Patnaik said that the state lost an experienced and efficient bureaucrat.

Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan too condoled the death of the former top bureaucrat.

Several bureaucrats, eminent personalities and notable leaders like Rajya Sabha MP Prasanna Acharya, Rourkela MLA Dilip Ray, former minister Niranjan Patnaik among others reached his residence to offer their last tributes to the departed soul.

Notably, Mishra was the Chief Secretary of Odisha from 1995-1999 during the tenure of former Chief Minister JB Pattnaik.

The last rites of Mishra would be performed at Satyanagar crematorium here today, family sources said.
