Former Odisha Minister Padmalochan Panda to quit Congress

Simulia: Former Minister and MLA Padmalochan Panda today announced to quit Congress citing ‘no future’ in the party.

The Congress leader, who was the MLA from Simulia Assembly constituency, did not clear suspense over his joining which party in future.

The decision he took after attending workers meetings for two days at Khaira and Simulia.

“I attended workers meeting at Khaira yesterday and today at Simulia. I went through the opinion of the workers, however, did not reach any conclusion so far,” said Panda

He held the national leadership for the reason behind poor condition of Congress in Odisha.

“The negligence by the national leaders in the Congress towards the State is the major reason behind weakening the strength of the party in the state level. We all wanted Congress leader Niranjan Patnaik to be appointed as the PCC president in Odisha. However, the AICC did not approve it. If it is so right now ahead of the assembly elections, it will yield no results,” Panda told media.

“We do not want to taste failure any more remaining in the Congress. All workers in the party suggested me to quit Congress,” he said.

Panda said that he along with supporters will take decision regarding change of party after visiting other panchayats in the constituency.

“The decision will be taken to switch to which party after I visit other panchayats in Simulia,” he added.
