Former Odisha MP Hema Gamang to be back in Congress again!

Bhubaneswar: In what can be termed as a homecoming for ex-Lok Sabha MP Hema Gamang, she is most likely to join the Congress party.

Hema is currently in New Delhi to meet senior leaders of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) in this regard, reports said.

“I was in the Congress party in the past. I have good relation with senior leaders of the State Unit of Congress. So, there is nothing wrong in rejoining Congress,” said Hema.

Lat year in April, she had resigned from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) alleging negligence towards her constituency. She had joined the conch party just before the Assembly elections in 2014 and unsuccessfully contested as a BJD candidate from Laxmipur constituency.

Earlier in her political career, Hema was elected to the 13th Lok Sabha in 1999 on a Congress ticket from Koraput parliamentary constituency. She was also a Congress MLA from Gunupur assembly constituency from 2004 to 2009.
