Founder of KIIT& KISS Achyuta Samanta bereaved

Nilimarani mother of educationist, social activist and KIIT & KISS founder Dr. Achyuta Samanta died in Odisha capital today at about 10.30 am at the age of 89.

She was a social activist, religious minded woman well-known around the entire Raghunathpur Panchayat area, dear to the people. She was instrumental in turning Kalarabanka as an ideal village. Achyuta Samanta always was advised by his mother to help develop the area as a model one for the entire state. Not only the village but also the entire Panchayat changed into an ideal Panchayat in the district. In the village, a charitable trust was set up to help the village women become self-dependant (Self Help Group). A library a primary health centre an English medium high school were also instituted with the aid and help of late Nilimarani. Apart from these a Hanuman temple, a bank, post office, street lighting, developed road network and sanitation system are also working in the Panchayat area. A big tank to help the villages to fulfill the water needs of the people also dug up.

Although Nilimarani at the age of 40 lost her husband, she brought up seven children with a lot of difficulties and made them educated and stand on their own. She was staying in Bhubaneswar with her youngest daughter Iti Samanta, the editor of Odia Family Magazine ‘Kadambini’.

She was active all along till her death but on Monday night falling seriously ill was admitted to KIMS Hospital and died while undergoing treatment. Her death has made the people of the area remorsed with condolences. Many eminent persons and people of the area in large numbers visited KIMS to pay their last respect to Nilimarani and placed wreaths on her dead body. Her body was taken to her native place for last rites.
