The accused were identified as Alarikhi Bibi, her son Juhur Hussain (22), Tahir Hussain (20) and her daughter Shabana Begum (19), all residents of Raghunathpur slum.

According to police sources, Alarikhi Bibi dumped some meat in her backyard which led to the foul smell in the locality.

One of her neighbors Pintu Pradhan asked Alarikhi to throw the meat instead of dumping it. Alarikhi and her family denied to do so and started beating Pintu and his relative Lakshmi.

On being informed, Khandagiri police reached the spot and arrested all the accused.

Lakshmi was critically injured in the attack and was admitted to nearby hospital for treatment.
