The Kharavela Nagar police today arrested four bike lifters from different places in the city and forwarded them to the local court here.

The accused four, identified as Santosh Dash (24), Deepak Dash (25), of Badagada, Simanchal Gouda (21) of Digapahandi and Ranjan Kumar Hota (32) of Banpur were booked under 379, 411, 34 IPC.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team nabbed them from different places in the city and seized two motor cycles- bearing registration numbers OR 02 AU 1674 and OR 05 AA 7616 – from their possession, IIC of Kharvela Nagar police station Nihar Ranjan Pradhan told OST.

“After we received a complaint from Sujat Ranjan Das of Baramunda that his bike was stolen from St. Xavier’s School on January 3 , we conducted a manhunt to nab the culprits, Today, four bike-lifters were arrested from the different spots ,” said Pradhan, adding, one of the bike seized belonged to Sujat.

The accused were habitual offenders with many cases pending against them in different police station here, the IIC added.
