Four dacoits arrested in Odisha capital; arms seized

Bhubaneswar, Mar 17:

The Quick Action Team (QAT) of the commissionerate police, along with Chandrasekharpur police, today arrested four notorious criminals, all of them hailing from Cuttack city, while they were planning to commit dacoity in Chandrasekharpur area in the city. Another member of the gang managed to escape from the spot.

The criminals were identified as Gurucharan Patra (27), Himanshu Swain (24), both of Jagatpur area, Jagannath Sahu (32) of Madhupatna area and Sk Manuar (27) of Pir Bazaar area in Cuttack city.

During a surprise search operation on their hideout, the team seized one revolver, two live ammunitions, five hand-made bomb and a motor bike to be used in the crime.

“We have arrested four dacoits with fire arms while they were planning to commit loot in Chandrasekharpur area. Interrogation is on to ascertain the facts about the other persons involved in the crime,” said a senior official of Chandrasekharpur police station.

The accused will be forwarded to a local court here in evening after the arrest documentation is ready, the police officer said adding, “We have leveled charges under the Arms Act against the accused.”
