Four gang rape accused sent to jail in Odisha

Pipili, Sept 18:

The four accused including the kingpin, arrested by the Pipili police on charges of gang raping a woman from a village in Teisipur panchayat in Odisha’s Puri district on September 14, were remanded to judicial custody after the court of Judicial Magistrate, First Class (JFMC) rejected their bail plea on Wednesday.

The four accused have been identified as Bijaya Senapati (26) and Siba Behera (32) of Kankanadua village under Pipili police station, Om Prakash Das (28) of Haripur village under Balanga police station and Litu Rath alias Kalia (24) of Nuasasan Uttarasahi village.

Acting on the complaint by the father of the victim, police had arrested Bijaya and Om Prakash from Kuha village under Airfield police station in Bhubaneswar on the the sameday and seized the jeep used in the crime from their possession.

The other two accused were arrested two days after the incident from Pipili area.

Police, in the meanwhile, are on the look out for Rama and Kaba, two other accused, as per the statement of the victim.

It may be mentioned that the accused had allegedly gang raped the victim after abducting her from her house at about 7 PM in a jeep.

Later, they threw her out of the vehicle near the backyard of her house.

The victim, after struggling her way back to her home ishe fell unconscious.

The victim is now undergoing treatment at the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
