Four killed in two separate road accidents in Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal: Four persons, including three women, were killed in two separate accidents in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district today.

As per the available information, a dumper loaded with sand hit two women sitting in front of their house at Bhagabanpur chhak under Town Police limits in the district this afternoon.

The two women, identified as Asanti Sahu (40) and Sina Behura (70), died on the spot.

After the incident, the enraged locals blocked Dhenkanal-Kapilas road at Bhagabanpur chhak demanding adequate compensation to families of the victims. On being informed, the police and local authorities rushed to the spot and pacified the angry locals by assuring Rs 10, 000 would be given to the victims’ families from Red Cross.

In another incident, a truck hit a man and a young girl near Kantanali bypass in the district when the duo was on their way to home this afternoon. The girl died on the spot and has been identified as Itishri Rout (24) of Radhadeipur village.

The man, who was rushed to a nearby medical in critical condition, succumbed to his injuries later in the day. His identity was not ascertained by the time of filing this report.

Meanwhile, the police have launched investigation into the incidents and seized the trucks.
