Four leopard skins seized in Odisha, six arrested

Forest department officials of Nabarangpur forest division have seized four leopard skins and a pangolin from six hunters arrested from a forest on the Odisha-Chhattisgarh border.

Also, four motorcycles and four mobile phones have been seized from their possession, Forest department officials said.

While two of them are from Nabarangpur district, the remaining four are from Chhattisgarh, they added.

The accused have been forwarded to court, informed Nabarangpur DFO Swayam Mallick to reporters.

“By constituting a team we apprehended them from near Kosagumda on Odisha’s border with Chhattisgarh. We have arrested six persons and have seized four leopard skins and a pangolin from them. Four bikes and an equal number of mobile phones have been seized from them. We have forwarded them to court. We will provide medical treatment to the pangolin and release it into the wild. Further, investigations are on,” said Mallick to reporters.
