Bhubaneswar: The number of COVID-19 positive cases rose to 48 after four more people tested positive for the deadly virus late last night.

Of the four cases, one positive patient is a resident of Kalahandi district. With this, the total number of positive cases in Kalahandi district mounted to two. Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) Jaggu Agarwal said the second patient got infected from the first one purportedly while playing cricket. The new patient will be shifted to Ashwini Hospital in Cuttack, he added.

However, the Government has not shared details on the rest three cases yet.

Earlier yesterday, a 51-year-old woman of Dhenkanal town and a 69-year-old man of Medinipur in West Bengal, who was undergoing treatment at a Bhubaneswar-based private hospital, tested positive. The WB man was brought to the hospital from the neighbouring state in an ambulance.

Dhenkanal Collector Bhumesh Chandra Behera said the 51-year-old woman patient from the district has link to the Nizamuddin Markaz event.

“As many as 408 samples were tested today at three testing centres. Out of them 6 tested positive for COVID-19,” said the state Health and Family Welfare Department ( H & FW) yesterday.
