Four top Maoists surrender in Odisha’s Malkangiri

Four top Maoists including three women surrendered before the police in Odisha’s Malkangiri district this morning.

Briefing newsmen, Jethwa said of the four Maoists, two were of assistant commandant cadre while the other two belong to the arms cadre.

The two assistant commandant cadres are Manglu Padiami alias Paban alias Arjun of Gananatya Sangam, Kalimela Committee under Malkangiri Division and Rami Madhi alias Anita, member of First Central Regional Committee under Malkangiri Division.

“Both of them were carrying a cash reward of Rs 4 lakh each on their head,” the IG said.

The other two armed cadres are Kunjam Reje alias Gita, member of Boipariguda Area Committee and Ganji Kurami alias Sangeeta of Gimma under Malkangiri Division, who were carrying a cash reward of Rs one lakh each on their head, Jethwa added.

He said the four Maoists, who were involved in over 50 cases including the killing of 38 Greyhound personnel in Balimela reservoir, attack on Nalco’s Damanjodi plant in Koraput, R Udayagiri jail and Boipariguda police station, decided to return to the mainstream as the Maoist cadres were working against the ideals of Maoism.
