Four-year old Odisha girl drowns in pond while bathing

A four-year old girl child died on Friday afternoon after drowning in a pond under Tikayatpali police station of  Bonei sub division in Sundargarh district.

“After post-mortem, we have handed over body of the girl child to her family members,.” said GS Thakur, IIC, Tikayatpali police station.

Sources said the four-year old girl child, identified as Sandhya Bhumij, a  resident of Basudih village under Tikayatpali police station under Bonei sub division, had gone for bath to a nearby pond alongwith some other children at  around 1 pm on Friday. While bathing, she drowned inside the pond.

Locals  rescued Sandhya Bhumij from  the pond  and rushed her to Bonei government hospital but doctors declared her brought dead. After getting information, Tikayatpali police reached there and sent the body for post-mortem. After conducting post-mortem, police handed over the body to her family members.
