Freight train derails in Odisha; several trains cancelled

Koraput: As many as six wagons of a goods train derailed between Dumuriput and Damanjodi railway stations in Odisha’s Koraput district last night.

No casualities have been reported in the derailment which took place at around 12.45 am.

East Coast Railway sources said the derailed wagons will be cleared from the track using crane which will be brought from Visakhapatnam and the restoration work is expected to be completed by this afternoon.

Some trains have been cancelled and diverted following the incident.

While Jagdalpur-Howrah Samaleswari Express and Koraput-Visakhapatnam passenger train have been cancelled, Visakhapatnam-Kirandul Express was short terminated at Rayagada station.

Similarly, Bhubaneswar-Jagdalpur Hirakhand Express, which left Bhubaneswar station yesterday, and Visakhapatnam-Koraput-Kirandul-Visakhapatnam train will run up to Rayagada.
