Fresh low pressure over BoB likely around June 11; Monsoon to reach Odisha on time

Bhubaneswar: A possible low pressure over Bay of Bengal may result in onset of southwest monsoon in Odisha on time.

According to Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, a low pressure area is likely to form over North Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood around June 11. Under its influence, southwest monsoon is likely to advance into most parts of Odisha.

The southwest monsoon has already reached Kerala on June 3. With possible low pressure area over the the Bay of Bengal by June 11, the seasonal wind is expected to reach Odisha by its usual time around June 10-12 this year, the IMD stated.

Meanwhile, the MeT has predicted thunderstorm for several parts of Odisha till June 9, 2021.

Here’s Weather forecast and warning for districts of Odisha for next five days:

Day 1 (valid from 1.30 PM of June 4 upto 8.30 AM of June 5)

Forecast: Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Nawarangpur, Nuapada, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh and at one or two places over the rest districts of Odisha.

Yellow warning: Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nawarangpur, Nuapada, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Balasore.

Day 2 (valid from 8.30 AM of June 5 upto 8.30 AM of June 6)

Forecast: Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Odisha.

Day 3 (valid from 8.30 AM of June 6 upto 8.30 AM of June 7)

Forecast: Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Odisha.

Day 4 (valid from 8.30 AM of June 7 upto 8.30 AM of June 8)

Forecast: Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Nuapada, Bolangir, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore and at one or two places over the rest districts of Odisha.
