The kitchen essentials now will be at your doorsteps that too with the click of a mouse. All you have to do is to log in to www.veggiekart.co.in, go through its online catalogue and place your order.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today launched Veggie Kart, an online platform which will enable consumers to get home delivery of vegetables after placing orders through its website. The people would get fresh vegetables through veggie wheels.

“Veggie Kart is an initiative to provide fresh vegetable purchased directly from farmers to people,” said the Chief Minister.

Debi Prasad Mishra, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Resources Development said, the main aim behind the initiative was to develop a symbiotic relationship between the consumers and the farmers, besides providing the consumers with good quality vegetables and fruits and helping farmers to get a better price for their produce.

The programme, which will be implemented in Bhubaneswar in the first phase, is a joint venture of the directorate of Horticulture and Veggie Kart Marketing Private Limited.

The move comes after the success of the Udyan Fresh experiment to provide fresh vegetables at a cheap price.

“We will be able to deliver order to consumers a day after it is booked. We have already registered 560 farmers of various districts and are helping them increase productivity. We will procure the vegetables from them directly,” said promoter of Veggie Kart Marketing Private Limited Subrat Ranjan Prusti.

Customers willing to purchase vegetables online can log on www.veggiekart.co.in to place their order.

Besides, the agency would also introduce 15 mobile carts, which will sell vegetables in various parts of the city. The mobile carts would sell vegetables of varying quantities packed in bags.
