“The suspended SP, with the mediation of some anti-social elements has purchased vast patches of private land and illegally taken possession of government land by terrorising the people of Alana village under Gop block in Puri district”, BJP leader Bijay Mohapatra told reporters in Bhubaneswar.

Earlier in the day, a 15-member BJP team, led by state party president KV Singhdeo, Bijay Mohapatra, Pravati Parida, MLA Radharani Panda, Pratap Sarangi, Pruthviraj Harichandan, Jatin Mohanty, Dillip Mallick, Simantini Jena, Basant Nayak, Jayanti Padhiari, Kalindi Samal, Amiya Das, Jagannath Pradhan, Dillip Mohanty, Krushna Jagdev, Prabhanjan Mohapatra and Surath Biswal went to Gop block .

The team, after the arrival at Gop, was taken on a bike rally by the party workers to Alana village of Baulanga panchayat where Gajbhiye has purchased a vast patch of land for shrimp farming.

The team, after interacting with the villagers, went to the office of the Revenue Inspector at Barimund and went through the sale deed of the purchased land.

The team found that about 10 acres of land has been purchased in the name of Ranjana Gajbhiye, wife of Satish at Badakiapala and Sanakiapala mouzas while anabadi, gochar and government land have also been acquired in her name. The total volume of the land owned by Gajbhiye would be around 80 acres.

Briefing newsmen after the return of the team from Gop, both Singhdeo and Mohapatra claimed that acquisition of vast patches of land by Gajbhiye was made with the knowledge of the revenue officials and staff and the Puri collector.

They also said to help the shrimp farming of Gajbhiye, a five-km concrete road has been constructed beside his shrimp farming land.

“Due to construction of the vast pond meant for shrimp farming, the villagers are not able to release the stagnated water in thousands acres of land near and upper side of the pond,” they added.

“How could the suspended SP be able to become the owner of such huge property within a span of just 12 years of his service? On what basis the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) road has been constructed to connect his shrimp farm? Who would be responsible for the massive crop loss of the villagers?” the BJP leaders asked.
