“The final decision pertaining to regularisation of our employment has been pending with the Chief Minister. We have no option but to continue our demonstration round the clock should he not agree to our demand to regularise us within six years of employment. Tomorrow we will gherao Naveen Niwas from all directions to press for our demand,” said Odisha Gana Shikshak Mahasangha president Sarat Chandra Nayak.

The Gana Sikshaks have been agitating and demonstrating at the lower PMG area here since quite some time now.

Some of the agitating Gana Sikshaks  today clashed with the cops while attempting to breach the security cordon near Lower PMG. The police, however, managed to get the situation under control in a brief while.

The said teachers were part of a mega rally that had been taken out by thousands of Gana Shikshaks of the state demanding permanent employment.

“A sub-committee was formed to address our concerns. The sub-committee, however, never discussed the issue or its recommendations to the government with us. Gana sikshaks are here from each and every corner of the state. All of us have the same demand;  regularisation of service within six years. We will force the government to give in to our demands,” said Praful Nayak, an agitating teacher at Lower PMG.
