Gang of thieves nabbed in Odisha’s Keonjhar district

Keonjhar, July 31:

Local police Wednesday arrested a gang of 10 thieves including three minors involved in a series of burglaries in Keonjhar district headquarters town in Odisha and nearby areas and recovered stolen goods worth around Rs five lakh from their possession.

The arrested ‘thieves’ are Ranjit Patra, Arjun Naik and Saheb Samarjit Singh alias Jitu of Satsingha, Shiekh Sasmal and Shiekh Ahmad of Babulal Colony, Kartik Sethi of Pandapada Patilo, Sajjan Mahakud of Baniapat and three minors, police sources said.

Police has recovered gold ornaments, mobile phones, home theatre systems laptops, table fans, TVs, domestic mixer grinders, brass water taps and several other household articles from their possession, police sources said.

The accused persons have confessed to have committed several house breaks in recent months in Keonjhar town and its adjoining areas when the occupants were not present in their houses, police said.

Keonjhar Town police forwarded all the accused including the three minors to court, police said.
