Ganja worth over Rs 1 cr seized in Odisha while being smuggled to Andhra

Jeypore: Busting an inter-state ganja smuggling racket, the Koraput police seized a huge cache of cannabis stashed in a jackfruit-laden truck near Tikaput Chhak in the district late last night.

Acting on a tip-off about the ganja smuggling, the SDPO conducted a crackdown with the help of Lamataput and Machhkund police in the area. During the raid, the cops intercepted a truck carrying jackfruits. While frisking the vehicle,  they recovered 1.8 quintals of the contraband item worth over Rs 1 crore.

The police teams also nabbed three persons in this connection and seized three mobile phones and Rs 3,500 cash from their possession.

Police said the accused were smuggling the cannabis from Macchkund to Gundur of Andhra Pradesh. Further investigation is underway.
