Ganjam’s COVID-19 tally breaches 9,000-mark with 491 new cases

Berhampur: Odisha’s COVID-19 hotspot Ganjam district’s tally  today crossed 9000-mark  with 491 fresh cases detected in the last 24 hours. The tally now stands at 9169.

The district alone reported 32.6% of the total 1503 positive cases detected in the entire state today. Besides, it reported three COVID-19 deaths- a 51-year-old female, a 55-year-old male, and a 58-year-old male.

The fresh 491 cases include 41 Corona Warriors, a person with travel history to other state and 449 persons with active contact with previous positive cases. All the patients have been shifted to COVID hospitals.

“A major chunk of these new cases have been reported from Berhampur city. Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) area reported 142 cases,” said officials

With  the new cases, the number of active cases in the district rose to 3251. However, 5836 persons have recovered from the disease while 82 succumbed to the virus.
