Gatherings in public for celebrations during Ramzaan prohibited in Odisha Capital

Bhubaneswar: At a time when there is surge in Covid cases each passing day, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) today prohibited any kind of congregations and gatherings in public for celebrations during Ramzaan month.

While issuing a set of guidelines for the Ramzaan celebrations, the BMC stated, however, usual religious rituals and Nammaz at Mosques are allowed with a maximum of 100 participants or 50% capacity of the premises, whichever is less.

The BMC made it mandatory for participants including the Mosque officials to wear mask properly and maintain two metres social distancing at all the times.

The Mosque Management Committee will ensure that the Covid protocol is maintained.

Also, the Mosque authorities will make provision of hand washing and hand sanitization at the entrance of the Mosque for use of all. Hand washing facility must be with running water and as per COVID protocol, the BMC order stated.

There shall be provision of thermal screening of the participants at the entry of the Mosque and person having SARI/ILI Like symptoms will not be allowed inside.

The BMC advised persons over 65 years of age and children below 10 years age not to attend such congregation in view of public safety.

In Bhubaneswar, a total of 191 Covid cases were detected in last 24 hours. Of them quarantine cases were 45 whereas local contact cases were at 146.
