Get vehicle FASTag or else pay double the toll charge from Feb 16

New Delhi: Vehicles passing through toll plazas on a National Highway must have a FASTag as the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) today decided to make all the lanes in the fee plazas on NH as ‘FASTag lane’ from the midnight of February 15-16.

In an order, the Ministry said vehicles without a FASTag passing through the NH toll plazas will have to pay double amount of the toll charge.

Earlier, the Central government made FASTag mandatory for vehicles from January 1 this year. However, the deadline for motorists to get FASTag on their vehicles was later extended till February 14.

FASTag, the electronic toll collection system is not applicable for two-wheelers.

This tag, a sticker featuring an imprinted Radio Frequency Identification barcode, should be on the windshield of a vehicle. With the help of this tag, a motorist can pay the toll fee at the NH plazas through an electronic system.
